Readers discover health benefits from reading NNAOPP

I love this book. I keep a copy next to my toilet. I have suffered from a medical problem (locked bowels) for almost 30 years. I have been reading a chapter each morning at the "appropriate" time and, amazingly, it has completely cured my medical problem. The world needs more books like this! John!

I have been winding my way through NNAOPP and am thoroughly enjoying the journey. Recently I have had several nights where I wake up at 2:30 unable to go back to sleep. I have turned on the light and read chapters from your book (it is on my night stand) and have laughed out loud so much so one night I scared my cat. Now you are probably thinking I have just provided you with another promotional tidbit (NNAOPP cures insomnia). Not so. It actually cured my state of unrest with laughter and a lovely journey through your life. Love it! Donna.

Bowling Green book signing event brings total sales up to 688

Thanks to Talley Lee Shaon for hosting a book signing event in my hometown of Bowling Green, MO. We had three hours of non-stop visitors, sold 43 books, and reconnected with many old and new friends. The warmth and hospitality shown in the fellowship hall of the First Presbyterian Church made this a most memorable day.

Sales at 492 Copies on One Month Anniversary of NNAOPP

Thanks to all who helped me get mightily close to selling 500 copies of Nude Nuns and Other Peculiar People during the first month of availability.

Thanks in particular to John, an alert reader, who shared his poignant story:

I love this book.  I keep a copy next to my toilet.  I have suffered from a medical problem (locked bowels) for almost 30 years.  I have been reading a chapter each morning at the "appropriate" time, and, amazingly, it has completely cured my affliction.  The world needs more books like this.

Potential readers should be forewarned that the FDA has yet to endorse the book's purgative powers.

If you enjoy the book, tell the world. Thanks in advance.

Thanks to all early purchasers/readers of NNAOPP.  I received my second re-order from Rainy Day Books, 2706 W 53rd Street, Fairway, KS yesterday taking us over the 400 book threshold.  Then several orders came in the mail bringing the first three week total to 434 copies sold.  I'm encouraged by the response.  Take a look at the accompanying page for some of the testimonials and reviews that I've received.  Hope you're enjoying a few mirthful moments from the read. Tell others if you think it is worthy.

Thursday evening I spoke at a local "Great Decisions" discussion group about the process of writing and self-publishing a book and read a few excerpts.  Thanks to Lyman and Sally Ott for hosting and taking a chance on me.  I believe it was well received.

I'd love to hear from you with any feedback at cbjwells@sprynet.com.  Thanks again. Chuck

Anticipating a mid October publication date

Announcing the publication of Nude Nuns and Other Peculiar People

It has been my good fortune to have known and associated with a goodly number of goofballs. I've written about a few of these encounters and have assembled a collection of 21 of my favorites. The scene changes from Ft. Polk to New Orleans to Harvard to Prairie Village to Alaska to Bowling Green to Drury to China and to America's heartland, but the theme remains the same, the pervasive ubiquity of peculiar people.

I have shared the manuscript with several friends and with a few people who are strangers to me.  I've taken the liberty of excerpting some of their comments:

"Two things come to mind after reading your book.  First, I enjoyed it greatly and lost track of the number of lol moments.  Secondly, I'm mightily relieved that you didn't write about me."

"I finished reading your manuscript and found it to be wonderful fun to read.  Aside from your self-deprecating humor and unique way of expressing yourself, I most enjoyed reading of the adventures of an ordinary mortal, encountering very unordinary circumstances and coming out unscathed, always with an astute perspective on the experience and funny.  Bill Bryonesque, but with a Midwestern voice."

"As I was reading your book, I was dying to have my son read the baseball chapter...  I was reading portions of the book to a friend while travelling, and we were both laughing out loud in various airports and planes, a very good sign."

"Your travels are wonderfully recounted.  I lived through it all with you and was worn out at the end, but laughing all the way.  This is a seriously funny book.  The chapter on Harvard is marvelous!"

I will have an print and ebook version available.  Details will be posted in the next few weeks.  Thanks for your interest.
